United Arts Fund Drive
The
Arts Put Color in Our Lives!
The
High Point Area Arts Council will kick off the
2010 United Arts Fund Drive
on Thursday, February
4, from
7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Arts on
Main
at
305 N. Main Street
. Entertainment will be provided by the Arts Council's
Celebration Band and Youth Jazz Orchestra. Mr. Tom Blount,
Editor of the High Point
Enterprise, will emcee the event.
Keynote
speaker will be Sec. Linda A. Carlisle speaking on our state's
Creative Industry.
Carlisle
was named Secretary of the North Carolina Department of
Cultural Resources by Gov. Bev Perdue on January 5, 2009. As a
resident of
Greensboro
, Carlisle has been a strong supporter of various community
arts organizations including Community Theatre of Greensboro,
Triad
State
, and Greensboro Symphony. She is a persistent proponent of
the arts as an economic development driver, downtown
rejuvenator, and small town catalyst.
This
is a complimentary evening including heavy hors d'oeuvres in
appreciation of our community's support of the arts. Although
a free event, reservations are required. Please call the Arts

One
donation to the United Arts Fund Drive supports six arts
organizations in High Point that provide essential arts
programs and services for our community. This year’s goal
for the fund drive is $250,000 which is necessary to sustain
the arts in the
High Point
