Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) featuring, Titus Gant

April 1 @ 7:00 pm8:30 pm

This April is Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) and once again the High Point Arts Council is partnering with the Smithsonian National Museum of American History to increase awareness of jazz across all mediums and to recognize the historical significance of jazz across America.

The Arts Council is kicking off JAM on Thursday, April 1, 2021, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. with guest artist Titus Gant. Before the pandemic, this would be a packed event. However, at the artists’ request, this will be a live-streaming performance only.

Titus is a music educator, performer, and social advocate. As native South Carolinian, he began singing and playing drums in church. Learning to play saxophone at ten, Titus went on to study at the collegiate level, earning a Bachelor of Arts in music education from Claflin University and a Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies from North Carolina Central University. Professionally, Titus has played with and behind a host of world-class performers: Branford Marsalis, Kim Burrell, Jonathan Nelson, Kurt Karr, Mondre Moffet, Brian Miller, Wil E. Coleman, Robert Trowers, to name a few.

With his debut single release “Look How Far I’ve Come,” Titus seeks to display a collection of original works from his forthcoming album. With a combination of groove, creativity and expression of faith, Titus has developed a unique sound within the jazz tradition.

Tickets are $10 and will allow access to the livestream concert on Thursday, April 1, at 7:00 p.m. Another option is to watch the on-demand video instead with access from April 2 at 12:00 noon to April 4 at 11:00 p.m. To purchase tickets, please visit:
